Harassment - This MUST end!

I just read some articles concerning a boss who harassed his ex-staff only because she refused an alleged sexual advances made towards her by the ex-boss. The shameless boss did not even care that the lady is married hence, should be respected. See full story here.

People from different parts of the world have faced harassment in various forms: Rape, Kidnapping, Molestation, Forced Labour, Child Abuse etc. Some of these crimes have even led to long-suffering of the victim and eventual loss of life yet, the perpetrators of these atrocities most times go scot free. Those who were apprehended found their way to freedom through some unscrupulous elements that claim as security personnel.

Take for example the happenings in the North Eastern Nigerian state of Borno where over 200 school girls were abducted in a Chibok community about 6 months ago by the dare-devil Boko Haram insurgents. The truth of the matter is that the real truth about the state of those young school girls are unknown to the public except the members of the sect. No one really knows the exact figure of the girls remaining in their custody because it is possible that in a bid to escape, some of them may have died on the way without reaching their safe ground. What this means is that Boko Haram can only tell us what they wish to tell us. Have you ever tried to imagine what pains these young students and the other victims go through everyday? They must have been turned into sex objects by these faceless militants who care less of human rights and respect.

Unfortunately, the #BringBackOurGirls slogan has only succeeded in making the news of the kidnap go viral but has not yet made much practical impact in the freedom of the girls. In my opinion, when one keeps saying, "Bring Back Our Girls", it seems you're communicating to a sane person who has kept the girls in their custody; someone who would reason and then say, 'no, what I did was wrong and I'm gonna free these girls'. We tend to forget that these people find joy in an intensified outcry from the general public. They feel comfortable with the situation of uneasiness that the populace feel as a result of the seized girls. They have no soul, no conscience, no thinking cap hence, baseless negotiation.
Yet, the great fear lies in a speculation that if some of these girls are really pregnant, the offspring could become  warring tools in the hands of these idiots as they will surely 'train up the children in the (WRONG) Boko Haram way which they want them to go....'. What becomes of these children later in life is better imagined.

This is the exact result you get when children are not brought up in the (RIGHT) way they should go so that as they get older, they will not depart from it but rather keep replicating only good deeds, morals, values, culture etc. generations after generations. Goodness can actually be practised to the extent it becomes a norm and anything outside it becomes alien. Parents, teachers, leaders; we know ourselves and what we do. We know when we go wrong or right save that greed, selfishness, corruption etc do not allow us conduct on ourselves sincere self-assessment. If this world was like this before we came on board, we wouldn't have had even a space for just 2 legs to stand. Let's not end this world in our time. Let's give room to our posterity to thrive in good fate.

  1. Well said, admin. Your words up there are absolutely true. There is really an urgent need to enlighten the younger generation on the gains in embracing virtue. Such enlightenment could be best achieved if we can practise the virtues which these younger ones can learn from us.
